Koji Wakamatsu's revolutionary politico-porno films of the 1960s and early 1970s remain the most powerful examples of their genre made in Japan. Wakamatsu mixed radical idealism (he was a known sympathiser with terrorist factions such as the Red Army), sexual violence, and underground film techniques to devastating effect in such classic films as Violated Angels, Shojo Geba Geba and The Angelic Orgasm.
